Social Network Integrity
October 27, 2008
Hola ladies,
This week I wanted to blog about social networking. Are you on any social networks? MySpace, Bebo, Facebook...? I'm on a few right now and I love being able to meet people from all over the world and share my life and my faith with them. So far, I've been privileged to meet some wonderful people; although I've encountered a few whom my heart just broke for. Why? Because they felt a need to exploit their own bodies on the Internet for friendship and attention. (I'm talking about adult and teen women alike.)
Are things really that bad that girls have to resort as low as posting explicit pictures of themselves on the Internet for attention? Are we (adults) really not validating you enough that you feel you have to stoop to such low standards (no pun intended). I mean, really... what's up with that? Can someone help me out?
If the real answer is that you have not been validated and told that you are beautiful, then I want to apologize to you for me and my adult peers. Girl, you are beautiful (inside and out)! You are strong! You do have character! You do have a lot more to offer this world than just your body. You are special to me because you are a creation of the All Mighty Creator (God). And because He made you special for the world, I celebrate you today!
I celebrate your mind, your self-esteem, your brilliance, your genius, your tenacity, your wit, your love for life, your zeal and passion. I celebrate your smile, that sparkle in your eyes, your beautiful skin tone... all the things that make your beautiful inside and out.
Let your radiance shine forth! Let people see the real you come through. Don't blind them with your hips and thighs. Instead, mesmerize them with your mind. After all,"Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades. The woman to be admired and praised is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God (Proverbs 31:10, MSG)...: and respects herself.
Until next week, get it girl!
